29 Maggio > 2 Giugno, Jan Ritsema

18th > 27th May, Rosa Casado and Mike Brookes
Rosa Casado (Spain) and Mike Brookes (UK) are independent artists who first worked together in 2000. 29th Maggio > 2nd June, Jan Ritsema
Jan Ritsema (born in the Netherlands in 1945) has directed for a wide variety of Dutch, and Belgian theatre companies. With the International Theatre Bookshop, which he founded in 1978, he has published over 300 books about theatre dance and film. Since 1995, he has been working also as a dancer. Ritsema has a predilection for bulky, complex, intellectual material. His theatre productions follow the traces of thinking itself, which in all of its openness, uncertainty, and infiniteness, demands a consistent ongoing process. In 2006 Jan starts in an old convent near the French city of Reims a PerformingArtsForum (PAF), an open place for residencies and formation to experiment with other ways to produce and develop performing arts pieces and to rethink formation in performing arts. http://pa-f.net

4th > 10th June, Aydin Teker
Aydin Teker (Turkey). A pioneer of contemporary dance in Turkey who has worked in Istanbul for over twenty-five years, Aydin Teker likes putting bodies into destabilising situations, testing their capacity for dynamic adaptation to the extreme. In harS, her new work, a harp is offered as an extension of the human body. Wherever the manipulations take it, the instrument’s functional identity is concealed in favour of a pure and sculptural quality.

The workshop at IFA09, will be based on Aydın Teker’s on going pedagogical studies in teaching Classical Technique. Within this experiential anatomy approach; skeletal, muscular and neurological systems are emphasized during and in relation to the series taught. Students are directed to build their own ways to listen and control their bodies on various levels. As they get in a deeper understanding of their own anatomy, their relation to the technique and the new information changes. Learning happens in a very rapid and organic fashion. www.aydinteker.com

11th > 16th June, Gustavo Frigerio
Gustavo Frigerio  (Rome), director and theater and opera actor, studied dance (Cunningham technique and contact improvisation with Steve Paxton and Lisa Nelson), theater (Grotowski, Richard Schechner, Peter Brook), voice (Linklater technique, Zigmunt Molik) and body consciousness (tai-chi-quan, yoga, and Ideokinesis). His works – performances where different disciplines are used in a sort of composition score – have been presented in festivals and theaters throughout Europe. He has taught at the Scuola D’Arte Drammatica Paolo Grassi of Milan and in many other institutions in Europe (Amsterdam, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Ljubljana). He is currently a teacher at Ecole du Théâtre des Teintureries of Lausanne.
