Cinema Italia, Polverigi

Giorgia Nardin is an independent choreographer and performer. With a background in classical studies, ballet and a BA in Contemporary Dance from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, she creates solo and group performances for theaters, galleries and museum spaces.

Giorgia Nardin is the first italian artist to be awarded the eight month residency at K3 – Zentrum fur Choreographie Hamburg (Kampnagel); she has also participated in numerous European projects, some of which are: Aerowaves Network, Choreoroam Europe, Performing Gender, B Project (that gave her the opportunity to perform in London’s National Gallery) and Pivot Dance.

Alongside her choreographic work, she is an associate lecturer in contemporary dance at Balletto di Roma, where she periodically gives training in release technique and choreographic composition.

In Minor Place, the audience is invited to seat on stage, taking part in a “temporary assembly”, a safe place to practice empathy. A collective work and a invitation to take action, with simple rules: a way to reconnect with the others and with ourselves.

Inspired by the book Calibano e la Strega (Calibano and the Witch) by Silvia Federici, Minor Place represents, through the movements, the urgency of taking responsibility and questioning the fruition of our bodies. In order to do so, Giorgia Nardin proposes a collective action of “poetic anatomy”.
