A PEACEFUL PLACE is born from the meeting between Davide Valrosso and the three Indian dancers of the Attakkalari company of Bangalore, thanks to the support of “Crossing the sea” internationalization project, thought in order to create and consolidate long-term collaborations between Italy and Asian countries and of the Middle East.
The work is based on a series of choreographic actions born from the dialogue and encounter with different languages: from Kalari Payat, one of the most ancient fighting arts in existence, and elements of yoga (Asana and Pranayama) and gestures taken from ancient traditional Indian dances, decomposed and imbricated in a dance that is sometimes substantial and sometimes formal. The result is a compositional architecture with a highly original language, poised between the sacred and the profane, a space for reflection on the theme of the ONE, a principle that points out the unity of all things. A theme dealt with in one of the oldest sacred texts of the Hindu tradition, the Rig Veda, dating back to around the second millennium AC, and then taken up again in the West by Plato Plotinus and finally by Hegel. A PEACEFUL PLACE is an opportunity for meeting and discovery, a physical space where the art of gesture and the study of form are practiced. A place of retreat for the warrior who performs the pujo, “rite of adoration”, before devoting himself to combat.
